On Saturday October 12, heavy metal’s netherworld heathens, Gwar, will return to the Treasure Valley for the Madness at the Core of Time tour. The metal-con miscreants will defile the Boise Knitting Factory stage along with Whitechapel, Iron Reagan and A Band of Orcs.
Gwar is currently out in support of its latest slab of epic melodious anal leakage, “Battle Maximus”. This marks the band’s thirteenth studio effort and the first to feature lead guitarist Pustulus Maximus, cousin of the tragically departed, Flattus Maximus. Pustulus is surrounded by the ever present sickness of frontman Oderus Urungus, bassist Beefcake the Mighty, drummer Jizmak da Gusha, and rhythm guitarist Balsac the Jaws of Death.
Putting down the crack pipe Oderus belched:
"It has begun, in a messy and mindless fashion...the ‘Madness at the Core of Time’ Tour kicked off in Columbus last night and the first round in the endless struggle between Gwar and this so-called "Mr. Perfect" ended in a stunning victory for the mighty Gwar...we kicked his f**king a** and reduced his mutated followers into bloody pulp. And it will continue!"
After last year's triumphant performance as part of The AV Club Undercover Series where Gwar gave their take of the classic Kansas song "Carry on Wayward Son" (Which can be viewed here), THE AV Club actually invited the monsters back to participate in the 2013 edition of the Undercover Series. To no one's surprise Gwar was declared the winner of the best performance of 2012. This time Gwar had a short list of songs to choose from and went with the Billy Ocean's #1 hit single "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" with a little twist. Check out their take on the 80's classic here, and be sure to vote when the polls open so the almighty Gwar wins best performance yet again!
"Somehow we found a song even worse than the last one we did, added part of another one, f**ked both of them up completely, and somehow it still sounded better than that horrible Kansas song. Hopefully after we win this time they will stop having these things and we can all just all get back to our lives," mused Oderus.
Joining Gwar in its latest act of touring treachery will be Knoxville’s deathcore deviants, Whitechapel. The heavyweight sextet is currently recording its upcoming fifth studio album which is due out next year. Meanwhile they continue to tour in support of their 2012 self-titled effort.
Also bringing the mayhem will be Richmond, Virginia’s Iron Reagan, which features Landphil Hall and Tony Foresta of Municipal Waste. Kicking it all off will be the otherworldly death metal goons, A Band of Orcs.
Tickets for the show are $22 to $35.

Gwar's “Battle Maximus” out now on Metal Blade Records features 12 brand new tracks that not only honor their departed ally, but tells the story of Gwar's latest struggle against what may be their greatest enemy yet...the insidious "Mr. Perfect", who has travelled through time itself to steal the power of Gwar--the power of immortality, and use this power to mutate the human race into his twisted vision of what the "perfect" human should be. Once again Gwar finds themselves as the only thing standing between the human race and the latest super-powered shithead bent on the destruction of Gwar and the enslavement of their worshippers.
The title track from “Battle Maximus” is streaming here.
