An 811 series by Guy Jones and perfect games by Mark Nihoff and Matt Aiken share the spotlight in this week's Examiner.com high-score report from bowling leagues in the Sarasota-Manatee-Charlotte County area.
Jones posted his big series on games of 278, 254 and 279 during competition in the Friday Night Mixed League at Englewood Bowl, where he carries a 213 average.
Nihoff blasted 12 consecutive strikes in the middle game of a 723 series on the final evening of play in the Monday Men's Summer League at Treasure Lanes in Port Charlotte. Nihoff finished the league with a 232 average, and it marked the fifth straight week in which he rolled at least one game of 267 or better.
Aiken turned in his gem to open a 656 series in the Thursday Night Mixed League at AMF Venice Lanes. He also rolled a perfect game on June 6 in the same league.
Brennan Mickley strung 10 strikes in a row en route to a 288 game as part of a 738 series in the Monday Men's League at Treasure Lanes, and Tony Clevenger had a 159-over-average 771 series on games of 237, 255 and 279 in the Thursday Mixed League at AMF Venice.

Sandy Combs elected president of Sarasota-Manatee County association
Longtime area bowling official Sandy Combs was elected president of the Sarasota-Manatee County USBC Bowling Association at the organization's annual meeting last Sunday.
"I certainly want to thank area bowlers and our local association for the vote of confidence and continued support," said Combs, while taking over the top elected position in the 2,023-member group.
Elected to two-year terms on the SMCBA board of directors were Sue Garland, Mike Zink, Jamie Garrett, Janet Romig and Bruce Combs.
Zink, who ended his two-year presidential term on Sunday, said, "I'd like to thank the bowlers of the Sarasota-Manatee area for participating in sanctioned leagues and tournaments held for them, and I'd also like to thank the officers and directors and all of the volunteers who dedicated their time helping out with the tournaments."
Elected as delegates to the USBC national convention were Sandy Combs and association manager Terry Wood, while both will join Bruce Combs and Cecilia Butler as men's state delegates, and Sandy Combs and Janice Muri will represent the association at the women's state convention.
