Guy Fieri is coming to Detroit to be a part of the Woodward Dream Cruise. Guy is the host of three TVpopular shows on the Food Network, Guy's Big Bite, Guy Off the Hook and Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Guy will be at the 555 Triangle where Old Woodward meets Woodward in Birmingham , August 20, 2011 from 11:00am–1:00pm. Guy will be available for pictures and to sign autographs.
Guy started his second cross country tour in May of this year to combine the world of food with the world of Rock N Roll. Guy tweeted earlier today that he is coming to Detroit to hang with DDD (Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives) and Kid Rock.
In May 2011 Guy released his first ever cookbook, Guy Fieri Food (William Morrow. This book includes over 125 original recipes, full color photos and cooking tips. This is not the first book Guy has written – he has two books in print based on his wildly popular show Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Guy is also the owner of five resturants currently, and plans to open more.
Owning resturants and driving across county to hit all the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is not Guy’s only passion. At his website, Guy Fieri(dot) com is some interesting information about the other side of the brash, blond spiked-haired chef:
Passionate about empowering today’s parents to include their children in the kitchen and educate them about eating healthy, Guy helped draft California state legislation proclaiming the 2nd Saturday in May annually as “Cook With Your Kids Day.” It was passed unanimously by the California State Legislature in 2009. Invited by the US Navy Team to cook at the White House in March 2010, Guy spoke to politicians about making this a nationally recognized holiday. In 2011, he officially launched CWK (Cooking With Kids) (www.cwkfoundation.org), a program that encourages developing healthy eating habits to address the childhood obesity crisis, strengthen the family unit by sharing quality time in the kitchen, and as a result increase our children’s self-esteem in a fun and positive way.
