Gurkha Seduction - cigar review

The Gurkha Seduction is a blend comprised of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Dominican Republic Olor binder and Colombian filler tobaccos.

The Seduction is available in four sizes: Robusto (5x55), Toro (6x55), Churchill (7x55) and XO (6x60). All of these vitolas are presented in boxes of 20.

The Robusto cigars used in this review were provided to me by Gurkha.

The wrapper is a medium reddish-brown in color, toothy and is very good looking. The double band has a theme of reddish brown and reddish gold colors.

As I inspected the cigar, I found that it had a firm feel throughout the body with a slight resistance at the foot. The wrapper had a rich, cedary tobacco aroma and the foot had a muted cedar and tobacco aroma with some sweetness.

I clipped the cap and found the cigar had a good draw with just the right amount of resistance. There was no flavor from the wrapper and a slight fruity flavor from the filler.

I’ve been smoking a lot of Nicaraguan cigars lately. There is a definite difference between those blends and the Seduction. The Seduction’s blend was a welcome change of pace and a pleasurable experience.

Once lit, the Gurkha Seduction produced a good amount of smoke and had a firm gray ash. The ash dropped around the 1 and ½ inch mark. The burn was fairly even and did not require any touch ups.

At first, I picked up a medium pepper sensation on the exhale and woody tobacco with slightly bitter coffee notes.

About halfway through I found the flavors changing and I detected a faint black licorice flavor melding with the coffee and tobacco.

As I reached the final third, the strength of the cigar picked up and coffee flavors became dominant with a cedary tobacco in the background.

Overall, I would consider the Gurkha Seduction to be a medium bodied, medium strength blend. It has good, complex flavors and good construction. I enjoyed the smoke and I would feel comfortable recommending this cigar to anyone.
