Police are searching for a bicyclist who robbed a Marietta store at gunpoint and pistol-whipped a female employee early Monday morning.
The incident happened shortly after 9:15 a.m. at 315 Pat Mell Road, according to Cobb County police.
Investigators said the gunman entered the Discount Store, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the employee.
“The victim handed the perpetrator some of the money that she had removed from the safe to fill the register and the perpetrator demanded more money and then struck the victim in the head with the handgun,” police spokesman Mr. Michael Bowman said.
The man took an undisclosed amount of money from the business and then fled the area on a silver bicycle, Mr. Bowman said. The mountain bike had black graphics on the frame, which has no shocks, he said.
The woman was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, Mr. Bowman said.
