There has been a lot of media whoopla about the gun control laws that were recently signed into law in New York by Gov. Cuomo, in Colorado by Gov. Hickenlooper and now in Connecticut by Gov. Malloy.
Not ONE of these laws would have prevented either the Colorado theater shooting or the SandyHook Elementary shooting. Adam Lanza broke or violated many laws! The ignorance and the hubris to think that another law will prevent a crime is typical mentality on the left and by gun grabbing politicians. These same politicians have legislated "KILLING FIELDS" with the passage of laws called "GUN FREE ZONES". Info on the law HERE.
When you go to your local bank to get your money oftentimes you will see armed guards. Try getting into a sporting event with a small bag or purse and you will be searched with armed security close by with a watchful eye. Concerts are another place where you can't even carry a small knife!
Most Americans would agree that our children are our most "Precious Natural Resource"! The future of the country, our way of life and our Democracy depends on the youth of America! Just imagine for a minute that instead of our schools being filled with KIDS that they were filled with MONEY & GOLD.
Would our politicians pass laws and restrict guns and firearms from these areas then? These facilities filled with Gold or Money would surely be guarded and protected with Armed Guards!
SO WHY NOT OUR CHILDREN?
Charles Hurt wrote an interesting article addressing this issue and the hubris of the politicians passing and promoting Gun Free Zones titled, "Gun-free zones are only for ‘the little people".
There is a good lesson here these days with so many politicians making political hay out of 20 young children and six educators gunned down in an elementary school last month. They want to use that horror to advance their own political agenda of disarming law-abiding citizens.
But it is important to remember that while they are talking about disarming you and me, they are not talking about disarming themselves. They will still be coddled in their fortresses. The closer you get to the Capitol, the more armed guards there are. Up close, there are bombproof guard shacks, literally, on every street corner. Squads of machine-gun carrying guards dot the magnificent marble buildingscape at all times.
Gun Free Zones once again are the brain child of a hubris that stems from not the FACT but the FICTION that the mere passing of a law means that it will be adhered to, that is a Fallacy!
Now thanks to modern technology gun rights advocates and enthusiasts can utilize apps that allow CCW holders and concealed carry licensees to ensure if they are within the law and to help distinguish between gun free zones and gun friendly zones.
NEW APP WANTS TO DRAW DISTINCTIVE LINE BETWEEN GUN-FREE AND GUN-FRIENDLY ZONES
The free “Gun Free Zone” app was released last month for Android, Apple and Amazon devices, claiming to identify the “nearest 20 commercial locations, including businesses, churches and schools, as either firearm friendly or gun free.” Establishments are tagged as either one or the other by users.
The purpose of the app, according to its website, is to allow users to “report and find Gun Free Zones throughout the United States.”
App creator John Peden said in a statement the app would mark “every commercial location in the country [...] allowing people to stay compliant with their state’s gun laws and also effectively support or boycott businesses according to which side of the gun coin they are on.”
Just maybe if more law abiding citizens and gun owners know about and address the number of gun free zones in our communities we can better educate people to know that they are potential victims! With the number of CCW licensees increasing all across the country it's import to know where these gun free zones are located. Hopefully more and more people will shun them and realize that they don't save lives.....they put people at Risk!
CAMPUS RAPE VICTIM SAYS GUN-FREE ZONES EMPOWER CRIMINALS, DEFENDS CONCEALED CARRY
In her own experience, Collins said she knew something was wrong the moment her attacker grabbed her from behind. Tragically, she was raped at gun point, in a gun-free zone, less than 100 feet away from campus authorities. The assailant went on to assault two other women and to kill a third.
If you are a gun owner or a CCW holder and you frequent businesses and or see NO FIREARMS beyond this point sign be sure to speak to the owner and let them know your thoughts about Gun Free Zones! It's time for law abiding gun owners to take the initiative and speak up!
