Do you know about the gunfights in Old Town? When you plan your spring or summer visit to Albuquerque next year be sure and blocking out a little time to watch the gun fights put on by the New Mexico Gunfighters Association. They usually put on a show on the first and third Sundays of the month, but you'll want to check their website just to be sure.
The show's are a re-enactment of a livelier time in New Mexico history and are all in fun. You won't have to dodge any bullets, but there will be plenty of big bangs and lots of gunsmoke.
If you want a hired gun for your own event you can find out all about it on the association website.
You may not know that there are Cowboy Action shooters that compete with live ammo all across the country. One of the most exciting events is held in St. George, Utah - a long day's drive from Albuquerque - every year in early October. Events include traditional, black powder, gunfighter, cowgirl and other events. All this during the Huntsman World Senior Games.
