As individual states across the U.S. plan to propose their own new gun control legislation measures, and Vice President Joe Biden’s federal gun control task force prepares to forward gun reform recommendations to the White House by Tuesday, gun rights activists are rallying to protect their gun bearing constitutional rights.
“Our backs are against the wall,” said Scott Wilson, president of the Connecticut Citizens Defense League (CCDL), a pro-gun rights group. “We are in for the fight of our lives. I have never seen anything like it.” ~ NBC News
The CCDL went as far as to write to their members to say that a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines would most likely be moving forward, even with the group’s vehement opposition.
Gun activist groups like Rocky Mountain Gun Owners (RMGO) out of Colorado and the Shooters Committee on Political Education from N.Y. are rallying their members.
RMGO is even holding a contest and will be giving away a new Colt AR-15, Model 6920, on January 25th. If you’re interested in entering the drawing, click here to enter. The AR-15 was the weapon of choice for both Aurora shooter James Holmes and Newtown shooter Adam Lanza.
RMGO posted on its Facebook page: “the fight is on at the Capitol. Let's beat the gun grabbers.”
“RMGO is facing dozens of battles in the Colorado legislature this year, so we need to increase the size of our pro-gun army,” the group says on its site. “To do that, we’re giving away a free Colt AR-15 Model 6920 donated by our good friends at Jensen Arms in Loveland, CO.”
Although not holding an AR-15 raffle, New York’s Shooters Committee on Political Education is also rallying members and telling everyone to overwhelm legislators with calls, emails and letters “to protect your Constitutional rights.”
