Come and travel back into time to experience the Renaissance period were kings and queens would host a special festival. Share in the excitement as you watch jousting knights, magical wizards, medieval fighters, falconry, renaissance dancers, medieval musicians, renaissance theatre, fire breathers, jesters, jugglers, gypsy and Arabian dancers and Swordfighters perform in front of your eyes. The event is fun for all ages featuring food, games, and special activities. You can sample the wares of merchants who have come from afar.
The Renaissance Faire is educational as you learn the history of that period from the arts and performances, to the weaponry and sports. People are encouraged to come in Renaissance costumes to be part of the event.
The jousting event is one of the main attractions were opponents start at opposite ends of the field mounted on horses, and try to knock the other opponent off using a pole known as a lance. If you love the works of Shakespeare, a performance by the Shakespeare Theatre is not to be missed.
There is no shortage of food and drink. Choose from traditional food such as hotdogs and fried items, to Renaissance flavors like giant turkey legs, pastry stuffed with meat and vegetables, also known as pasties and a sweet cinnamon dessert called Dragon Scales.
The Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire takes place at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds March 3rd to March 4th, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
