This weekend at Seminole Lanes, will be the 3rd Annual Senior Doubles/Singles tournament. Anyone that is aged at 50 + and is a Gulf Coast USBC member can bowl in this tournament. An entry form can be downloaded at www.gcusbc.org - WALK INS ARE WELCOMED....

On March 15 & 16th, two tournaments, same weekend. The Men & Women’s Handicap City Championship tournament will take place at Liberty Lanes. So put together a 4 man team and a 4 women team together and come out and have some fun with your friends. There will be brackets available as well.

On April 19, a Saturday at 1 pm, is Gulf Coast USBC annual meeting, here this year they will be electing and need your vote, for President, 2nd & 4th Vice President positions and Sgt. Of Arms position and director positions will be open. If you are on the board, then you would be able to run for President, VP or Sgt. of Arms. If you are looking to be on the board, you need to fill out application for a director position.

If you would like to be a director, you need to go to their website and under Board Positions you will find a board application. Applications are due on April 1st. What do you do as a director? You help out on committees, help out at tournaments, give out awards, and attend meetings throughout the year. It is a lot of fun. I have done it since 2008, and started as a director to the 2nd VP. Looking forward to the coming years.

If you know of someone who you would like to nominate to be in the Gulf Coast USBC Hall of Fame you need to again go to our website and under Hall of Fame, download an application and get it filled out and turned into the Gulf Coast office by March 1st. Is there someone out there, who works hard to service you the bowler or someone who is an outstanding bowler that you think deserves to be on the Hall of Fame? There is a Hall of Fame for adults and for the youth bowlers. Again, these are due next Saturday on March 1st.

On May 17 & 18th we will be holding our Strikers Club Tournament this will the our 3rd year. This is a tournament that you the bowler would qualify to bowl in throughout the year, as a man, you have to bowl three 210 games or higher in a set, and ladies and youth bowlers, you bowl a 170 game or higher in a set. Then you have qualified for the tournament. James Strickler and I go through league secretary each week finding who qualifies for this tournament. In April you will receive an entry form if you qualified. This tournament is by INVITATION ONLY!!!

At the tournament you will bowl 4 games, and drop your lowest game, the top 5 in each 9 divisions will advance to the stepladder finals. The winner will receive, cash (youth – scholarship), Strikers Club Cup, and a very nice shirt, that says the year and Strikers Club Champion on the back of the shirt.

IF you have qualified, your name will be on the website under Strikers Club. We are a little behind, but will be caught up this month.

This summer starting May 24 – June 22 the Florida State USBC Youth board will be bringing their tournament to Liberty Lanes & Seminole Lanes. Will be an exciting summer!!! Entries for the youth bowlers is April 1st. Be sure to get your entry into the State ASAP!!!

Please always keep an eye on our website, and facebook. We are always posting about tournaments and events in our area.

This past January we had our Annual BVL – Bowlers to Veterans bowl-a-thon and we made this year $3,678.00 – Liberty Lanes had their normal doubles tournament and then we had our bowl-a-thon and again invited Veterans to bowl from Bay Pines Hospital. They had lots of fun. There were silent auction items to bid on as well. Each year we do this, raising money for the Veterans at Bay Pines, as well, as Re-Creations and money sent to the 5 Veteran Hospitals in the State of Florida. Gulf Coast is very proud of our annual event.
