The release of "Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper" is still over a month away. But a live preview that a group of about 200 people got of some of the tracks last week received a standing ovation.
On Sept. 2, guitarist Timmons appeared solo at Hertlein Guitars in Dublin, Ca.,for a clinic to demonstrate his guitar technique using Mesa Boogie amplifiers.
Using computer backing, he soloed on songs from his past releases and four songs from the upcoming album: "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "With a Little Help From My Friends," "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" (which is previewed in the studio version from the album on his website) and "Within You Without You."
The new songs sound even better live than they do on record. "Within You Without You" was, in fact, stunning.
The clinic served as a great preview of what you can expect from "Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper" when it arrives on Oct. 25. This is one to put on your must-buy list.
