By anyone's definition, Ann Coulter has defined hate crimes for Canada. In a list of grievances so long that Sarah Palin would need ten palms to list them all -- Ann detailed outrageous events in Canada that included
- Accusations of thought crimes
- Threats of criminal prosecution for undelivered speeches
- Being denounced on the floor of Parliamen
- Banning Coulter speech posters while anti-Coulter were visible on campus
- Prohibiting elected officials from attending her speech
Ann says her speech was canceled as a result of a provocative 'hate letter' written by provost, Francois A. Houle, and distributed freely prior to her speech and even prior to Ann's own receipt of the letter. In what Ann perceived as, perhaps, a threatening tone and felt was distributed with intent to provoke student protest, Ann shared that
Apparently Canadian law forbids "promoting hatred against any identifiable group," which the provost, Francois A. Houle advised me, "would not only be considered inappropriate, but could in fact lead to criminal charges."
Ann makes it clear she feels she and other conservative speakers are victims of hate , not 'guilty of hate' and may be defined as targets in Canada, mentioning that "Mark Steyn and editor Ezra Levant have been investigated by the Human Rights Commission for promoting hatred toward Muslims.", adding that "... conservative speakers are regularly subjected to violent attacks on college campuses. Bill Kristol, Pat Buchanan, David Horowitz and I have all been the targets of infamous campus attacks".
Either Francois goes to jail or the Human Rights Commission is a hoax and a fraud.
Coulter says she will file a complaint with Canada's Human Rights Commission and anticipates the process will entail a thorough review of all letters sent to other speakers, prior to their speeches, to determine if it is common practice to threaten speakers with criminal prosecution - before they have even turned on the microphone. Sharing the anger and disappointment of many devoted fans, Ann explains that she never made it to the speech because
After Tuesday night, the hatred incited by Francois' letter is no longer theoretical. The police called off my speech when the auditorium was surrounded by thousands of rioting liberals—screaming, blocking the entrance, throwing tables, demanding that my books be burned, and finally setting off the fire alarm.
The college has issued a denial that it was they who canceled the event and claim demonstrations were peaceful
About Dallas:The Spoof sympathized , "Coulter, which rhymes with '---head' replied that even the lousiest colleges in America like Arkansas' Pumpkin State University and Tumbleweed College in Dallas still adhere to the adage that free speech is still free." Hmph, now we know how Coulter feels.

Abortion: Just a Medical Procedure?Liberal feminists are still smarting over Obama's tough abortion concession to Stupak. To them, any questions about legality and coverage should have been clarified with one callous sentence
Is that how you think of it? |

The Southern Canadians in Alberta and BC can put our southern hospitality to shame, however when you go north and east in Canada, the French influence is very strong and they are the rudest people I have ever come in contact with.
Thank God I don't live in Canada.
These people are barbaric.
The only place I would visit in Canada would be Nova Scotia. Just wait, what is happening in Canada will be here in just a matter of time.
Hugo Chavez would be proud of those folks. So basically what they are saying is, free speech is only free if it agrees with my agenda. Interesting. Nothing like an "open-minded liberal" to redefine freedom.
Dev,.
What a shame. Canada used to be a good neighbor. We can clearly see what European influence and socialistic views will do to a country. As Hannah mentioned above, they way things are going with our current administration, it could very well soon be here. Restricting the speech of conservatives is only the beginning of the tyranny - look out America!
BTW, all the best and success to Ann in her fight! You go girl!!
Sharon, would that fine region of Canada be the region nearest Sarah Palin? Just asking....
Hi Amy,
From what Sharon has said, it appears maybe it's regional. You know like regions in the United States where hate prevails...New York?
Hi Hannah!
I think some of our elected leaders may be falsely claiming to be the "victims" of hate crimes since the Health Bill passed. Issa is calling for an investigation -- I do believe he's just the man to get to the 'real' bottom of it.
Go get 'em Ann!
Deni,
Yes, it is such a shame that we no longer can look at Canada and consider them our "good neighbor". That should be taken in consideration when we repeal NAFTA, eh?
I'm with you .......... GOOOOOOO Ann!
The "Left's" definition of ""HATE" is ANY "FACTUAL INFORMATION,"
(regardless of the fashion in which it is delivered) that is contrary to their AGENDA.
The HATE the TRUTH.
They HATE purveyors of the TRUTH.
They LIVE to HATE all that is decent and forthright.
They LOVE "Political Correctness" because it prevents them for having to take responsibility for their actions, while denying ANYONE the right to challenge them.
Anyone who does (challenge them) is labeled a "Hater."
Not having any foundation in logic or reason to support their idiotology, they offer innumerable excuses (race card, victim card, etc.) to advance their views.
Ann Coulter is one of their most vocal nemeses, and they HATE her accordingly.
The "reverse hatred" so ingrained in the sociopathic threadwork of the liberal "Sillyosophy" is a barrier that Ann Coulter is not likely to overcome.
Every example is apt, Melissa.
This may be my fave.
They LOVE "Political Correctness" because it prevents them for having to take responsibility for their actions, while denying ANYONE the right to challenge them.
It sucks living here.
The Liberals own the house, and the gangs own the streets in and around Toronto.
I love B.C. :)
I want to get out of Ontario (or even better, move to the States) and fly to the States regularly (I'm a pilot).
:)
