World class super bantamweight boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux (Cuba) is in negotiations to re-new his contract with Top Rank Promotions.
Rigondeaux's current promotional pact with Top Rank expired Monday and the former Olympic Gold Medal winner is looking for a pact which will ensure bouts against quality opposition.
After disposing of Rico Ramos and Teon Kennedy via knock-outs this year, there have been rumors of Rigonedeaux facing Los Angeles' Abner Mares.
A bout between Mares and Rigondeaux is unlikely if the Cuban re-signs with Top Rank. Mares' promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, and Top Rank have refused to do business together for the last several years.
If Rigondeaux continues to fight for the Top Rank banner, a bout with stable mate Nonito Donaire would make for one of the best bouts in boxing.
