Guillermo Del Toro talks GLaDOS voice in 'Pacific Rim' trailer

According to CBM on Jan. 6, Guillermo Del Toro recently discussed his new trailer for "Pacific Rim," and specifically the fans who recognized the voice playing during the shots. The voice was that of GLaDOS from the "Portal" videogame, and Del Toro said he went directly to the "Portal" creators to get permission to use it.

Del Toro said that he is a huge fan of the "Portal" videogame series and wanted to use the voice of GLaDOS in his trailer and movie. He said there is no AI in the movie and nothing similar to the character of GLaDOS, but he wanted to use the voice anyway.

He got permission and used Ellen McLain, the voice actor who did the voice for the video game in his movie. The voice in the trailer was clearly GLaDOS, but Del Toro said that the voice in the movie will be filtered some and not be as recognizable. It is still the same voice but it is not "full-on" GLaDOS.

Guillermo Del Toro also spoke in the interview about a horror game he has wanted to bring to life for awhile called "inSANE." The game was cancelled in 2012 by THQ, but Del Toro said it is closer to being released by another "very big company."
