Weapons in Guild Wars 2 are very important. Depending on which weapon a player has equipped, his or her skills will be different. Different weapons bring different abilities, such as a mace giving more stun abilities, and a sword giving more bleed abilities. [Guild Wars 2 main page]
There are several weapon types in Guild Wars 2, including:
Axes
Longbows
Shot Bows
Daggers
Focus
Greatsword
Hammer
Harpoon
Mace
Pistol
Rifle
Scepter
Shield
Speargun
Staff
Sword
Torch
Trident
Warhorn
Each profession can only equip certain weapons; for example, a warrior cannot equip a staff or a torch.
As far as where to equip weapons, there are two weapon slots (two hands). With this players can equip a one handed weapon and a shield, or a special item, they can equip two handed weapons, or two one-handed weapons.
Also players have the ability to swap weapons in the middle of battle with a weapon swap ability. Players have one extra slot where they can equip a secondary weapon. Whenever the player wants they can hit the “ ` ” key in order swap out weapons.
Three of a players skills are depicted by main hand weapons and two skills are depicted by the off hand. In some combinations there are only four weapon skills.
Players also have a special move which is activated with the “f1” key. This one may charge or have special circumstances around it that will affect how it is used.
Weapons are very important in Guild Wars 2, and learning how to use them effectively is even more important. With how the game works, weapon choices and the use of weapon skills are everything. It takes a skilled player to become skilled with his weapons, and an even more skilled player to become skilled with his skills.
