In Guild Wars 2, the Ranger professions is so stereotypical, it’s almost unexpected. They shoot, they slow, they do all the stereotypical ranger stuff. In long range combat Rangers are extremely tough. [A full list of Guild Wars 2 Professions]
Just like all classes, the Ranger has five skills per weapon/weapon combo. Also, as quoted from the in game character creation page:
Ranger are proficient with the bow. They rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature to slay their targets. Their loyal pets, which rangers tame and train, distract enemies while the rangers strike safely from a distance. (Rangers wear medium armor.)
Rangers are mostly damage in Guild Wars 2. They wear medium armor, so they’re moderately proficient in close combat as well. They have a longer range than warriors, and they focus on doing damage and using special abilities to put status effects on other players. Their hand to hand combat isn’t the best, but it’s still really good. Rangers are actually really powerful overall in combat in Guild Wars 2.
