Items in Guild Wars 2 aren’t as complex as some other games, but at the same time it seems as though they’re infinitely complex. [Guild Wars 2 main page]
There are five main types of items:
Junk
Armor / Weapons
Crafting goods
Trophies
Special Items
Each of these items has its own unique purpose in the game. Junk is only meant to be sold for spare change. Armor and Weapons are, well, obviously for use as armor and weapons. Crafting goods are used to craft at crafting stations. Trophies are earned from events and just found from dead creatures, they’re usually worth some decent spare change. Last but not least is special items, which are rare items from events and special one-time events in Guild Wars 2 in which players can use for special effects, such as summoning a golem banker to bank at.
When it comes to items the best place to go is the trading post. There players can buy or sell from other players across all world. There is also a trading feature players can use to trade person to person.
There are thousands of items to use in Guild Wars 2, and even more to sell and trade. Regardless of what an item is worth to a NPC, it may be worth a small fortune to another player elsewhere. Keep a lookout for items that might be valuable, and go see what they’re worth at the trading post.
