In Guild Wars 2, the Engineer profession is interesting. This profession is all about throwing bombs, placing turrets, and using objects in order to succeed. They’re very proficient in ranged combat and Support, and only moderately powerful in close ranged combat. [A full list of Guild Wars 2 Professions]
Just like all professions, the Engineer has five skills per weapon/weapon combo. Also, as quoted from the in game character creation page:
Engingeers are technological and alchemical masterminds. They employ turrets, grenades, elixers, and a variety of other impressive devices and concoctions to overcome their enemies. (Engeers wear medium armor.)
Engineers are more support than they are damage, but they can do both. They are best used in mid ranged and close ranged combat, but they need the support of allies to be optimally successful. This profession is great for protecting areas and using special effects on allies and enemies. They’re great for self-buffs, and good at trickery like skills and abilities.
