Cedaredge resident Peter Sullivan has announced the formation of guided small business study groups, open to all people in the 814 and 815 Zip Code areas who are interested in learning how to start a business or bring a new product or service to market. Mr. Sullivan has been studying business and business models independently for the past 20 years. He has started 6 businesses and co-founded another. His bookstore, Roundhouse Books, which he began without any previous retail experience, ran successfully in Delta for 10 years. He is currently helping his wife Lori, a potter for 27 years, develop an online presence for her business, Biggins Pottery.
Mr. Sullivan's goal is to gather 10 to 15 people willing to commit to meeting on a regular basis and to studying approximately six to 10 hours outside of class each week. He will be the group's guide, but all participants will be expected to contribute to class activities. Students will be learning from books, articles, podcasts, blog posts, as well as from each other. Each study session will consist of a time for discussion of the previous week's homework, a round table sharing of what each person has learned and the obstacles they are presently facing, and finally a discussioin of the next week's topic. The cost per session will be $15 per session as well as any room expense.
These groups are not the first that Mr. Sullivan has been part of. He has previously worked with both youth and adults, sharing his expertise and encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit. A special mentor that he had during his growing-up years has been an example to him of giving back and making a positive impact upon the lives of others.
Anyone interested in becoming a part of a group of people working together as entrepreneurs-in-training is invited to contact Mr. Sullivan via email or by calling 970.260.5030
