There’s so much history in The Village!
Join us for the Historic Tour of The Village campus, formerly the Traverse City State
Hospital grounds. You will learn about Dr. Munson’s “Beauty is Therapy” theory on patient care, the former uses of the structures on the property, the purpose of the architecture and more. The tour will take you through an un-renovated historic building, a renovation project in the making, and the tour will end with a walk through an amazing brick steam tunnel built in 1883. It’s safe, we promise!
This tour will last an hour and thirty minutes. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time by visiting www.thevillagetc.com/events-attractions/tours.
If you have any further questions, or wish to schedule a private tour with a group of nine or more, please contact Tricia Phelps at 231.941.1900.

Be sure to stick around for some amazing pizza at Pleasanton Bakery. Handmade, 18”, brick-oven pizzas will be served from 5-9pm for $20. Feel free to pick any of the specialty pizzas, or build your own (as long as they’ve got the ingredients, they’ve got your back!). Ask about Pleasanton’s yummy treats and breads as well. Pre-orders are welcomed, please call 231.941.1964. www.pleasantonbakery.com.
Interested in the walk? The Village at Grand Traverse Commons is filled with little shops. Want a souvenir? Check out High Five Threads for some authentic Northern Michigan gear, started by two of Traverse City’s own. Sweet tooth? Love getting into books? Fine art? Clothes? Bikes? Need a snack? How about building your own six or twelve pack of Michigan brewed beer? Anything you want, you can find it at the Commons. Be sure to check it out! All shops are open until 9 pm.
