Talk about giving new meaning to Labor Day! “American Idol” alum and country music superstar Carrie Underwood is about to become a mom. On Monday, the Grammy winning singer celebrated the national holiday in a big way when she posted a cute announcement on Instagram that said, “In honor of ‘Labor’ Day, Ace & Penny would like to make an announcement. Their parents couldn't be happier...
The photos show Underwood's dogs wearing blue and pink onesies that that read "I'm going to be a big brother" and "I'm going to be a big sister.” This will be the first baby for Underwood and her husband, pro hockey player Mike Fisher.
Carrie Underwood is the latest “American Idol” alum who is about to become a first time parent. Earlier this year, ex-judge Simon Cowell became a first time dad, while original “Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson gave birth to her first baby this year.
In fact, in true “Idol” form, it was a bit of a competition. Last fall Cowell joked to People that he was “ahead” of Clarkson in the baby making department because he announced his baby with girlfriend Lauren Silverman first. He then went on to predict a future competition between his son and Clarkson’s baby. “[They'll be] competing against each other in a competition,” he said. “I can see it now … I’m thinking 15 years ahead.”
As for Clarkson, the “Stronger” singer gave birth to baby girl River Rose in June. But months before her daughter’s birth, she predicted the baby’s gender. "I'm totally gonna have a girl,” Clarkson told Parade last November. “I'm manifesting it! And when I have a girl, you're gonna be like, 'That chick knew it!'"
Any predictions for Carrie Underwood’s baby?
