GUESS, the global lifestyle brand famous for its trendsetting styles and unforgettable campaigns, and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) are teaming up for the GUESS?, Inc. and FIDM Denim Design Contest for students.
The contest challenges participating students with the task of creating and producing a sellable denim-based look for the GUESS brand. Students will research and develop their idea of the iconic GUESS Girl or GUESS Guy and produce a trend board and sketch of their GUESS-inspired denim look.
FIDM Professors will then select the top 20 semi-finalists, followed by a select panel of GUESS judges who will choose the top five remaining finalists. The remaining finalists will receive an invitation to the GUESS world headquarters in Los Angeles.
The student whose design best reflects the spirit of the GUESS brand will win a $5,000 cash award from GUESS and have his or her design produced and sold as a limited-edition look on guess.com. In early January a winner will be announced.
"As a Los Angeles based fashion brand, it's extremely important to GUESS to support local fashion designers and this collaboration with FIDM is a perfect way to encourage and challenge the minds of young talent," said Paul Marciano, CEO and Creative Director of GUESS. "We have a longstanding relationship with FIDM and are so excited for this opportunity to tap into the creative minds of gifted individuals who are the future of the fashion industry."
