'Guardians of the Galaxy' teaser offers sneak peak at new heroes

The full "Guardians of the Galaxy" trailer is almost here but if you simply cannot stand to wait any longer, Marvel Studios released a teaser earlier on Tuesday. The short, 15-second video introduces us to the company's newest heroes. That's probably a good thing, considering that the Guardians are not nearly as well known as characters such as the Avengers and the X-Men.

Obviously the teaser is just supposed to whet our appetites but we still get a pretty good look at Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon and Groot (voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel). We don't hear much in the way of dialogue from Rocket or Groot so we'll have to wait just a little bit longer to see exactly how those characters are portrayed in "Guardians of the Galaxy."

While the characters taking center stage in the upcoming film may not be that well known, the flick is bringing some heavy hitters when it comes to actors. Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou, John C Reilly, Glenn Close, Ophelia Lovibond and Peter Serafinowicz all make an appearance in the film.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" will hit theaters on August 1.
