On Monday, July 7, Marvel fans all over the country were treated to a special extended preview of the anticipated movie, "Guardians of the Galaxy." This latest installment of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" series is scheduled to open August 1, 2014. In preparation for this opening, there was a sneak peak of 17 minutes of exclusive footage in IMAX 3D for any lucky fan who happened to secure a ticket (which was free, but only available on a first-come, first-serve basis).
"Guardians of the Galaxy" is the tenth installment in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" series of movies - it is the second to last installment of Phase Two of the series. Based on comics of the same name, the movie is centered around an adventurer named Peter Quinn. Quinn has a bounty hunter chasing after him because of an orb Quinn stole. In order to escape, Quinn joins forces with a band of criminals. When the power of the orb is discovered - as well as the potential problems it could cause the galaxy, Quinn and friends have to do what they can to become the guardians of the galaxy.
If you were not able to attend the sneak peak on Monday, do not despair! Disney - who now owns the rights to the Marvel franchise - is making the extended sneak peak available for any park-goers that are interested in viewing it. Anyone who heads over to Walt Disney World between now and mid-August will be able to catch the extended sneak peak at the ABC Sound Studio at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Just like Monday's preview, this sneak peak will also be showing in RealD 3D (although it does not appear to be showing in IMAX).
