The much anticipated trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy” debuted last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live (Feb. 19, 2014) and it shows the movie to be an action packed feast for the eyes that also has a flair for comedy.
Based on the Marvel comic book, “Guardians of the Galaxy” tells the story of pilot Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) who refers to himself as Star-Lord and is wanted by a villain Ronan (Lee Pace) after stealing a powerful orb from him. As he fights to survive, Quill is forced to join forces with a rag tag group of misfits including Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (voice by Vin Diesel) and Drax (Dave Bautista). Soon the group finds themselves not just fighting for their survival, but the survival of the entire galaxy.
The 2:15 long trailer allows the always charming Chris Pratt to flex his comedy muscles as well as show off his chiseled body left over from his work on “Zero Dark Thirty.” Much of the trailer features Rhomann Dey (John C. Reilly) explaining to his colleagues who each member of the team is as they appear in a police lineup. Intercut with the introductions we see Pratt and the orb then the trailer ends with a flurry of action.
Every second of the trailer is packed with amazing special effects and the all-star cast seems right at home. “Guardians of the Galaxy” arrives in theaters on Aug. 1, 2014 and is sure to be one of the biggest hits of the summer.
