'Guardians of the Galaxy' cast talk about teaming up with Avengers characters

According to Screen Rant on Sunday, there had been a lot of speculation of about director James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" opening up opportunities and possibilities into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Such possibilities would entail the Avengers characters teaming up with the Guardians in a cross over of sorts considering now the revelation of Josh Brolin's character Thanos has been seen in the flesh at his Sanctuary.

The Nihilistic genocidal maniac was seen at the end of Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" and now he's readily apparent in Gunn's film. Also, the Infinity Gems, a highly sought after series of relics coveted by the Mad Titan are also explained by Benicio Del Toro's character, The Collector, who is also known as Taneleer Tivan. The mystical man gives a back story to all six gems.

Cast and director of the film were asked about what kind of character clashes would occur if certain characters were to ever meet each other face-to-face. Some would indeed think highly that there would be some friction between the two teams as The Avengers are more do-gooders while the Guardians are more thieves and typically do things that aren't in anyone elses best interests. Though they proved that to be the opposite in "Guardians of the Galaxy.", but it's more of a personality thing.

NBC's "Parks and Recreation's" Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord explains how much of a challenge it would be to bring quite a sizable ensemble of characters should ever the twain shall meet. Hopefully, Marvel Studios will know what they are doing when it comes to handling such a large cast should a crossover between the two teams ever occur.

"If you go from five characters and you add another five characters, that’s ten characters. That can be very difficult. That being said, Marvel knows their stuff. Knows their business. And I see this, rather than taking the worlds that already exist and putting them together, this opens up doors into brand new worlds. We take characters we didn’t even know existed in the four corners of the universe and we see their stories."

Dave Bautista elaborated how his character, Drax, would indeed clash with the Hulk, but figures that his character could take him on, but of course smack talked the green irradiated Banner character to be back again for even more punishment. Director Gunn gave his elaborations on how both the teams would get along, but likely figures they wouldn't because the nature of their characters.

We talked about all sorts of possibilities [for a crossover] and I kind of know what the basic plan is. That could or could not include a couple of Avengers and a couple of Guardians meeting up, or all of the Avengers and all of the Guardians. But, we do inhabit the same universe and they’re pretty big personalities that are likely to, at some point or another, run into each other.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" are currently showing in theaters and the sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" is scheduled to be released come July 28, 2017 and Gunn mentioned in his "thank you" letter to his fans on Facebook that he has already started working on it.
