A prison guard has become pregnant by a cop killer during an affair she had with the inmate while he was in custody. According to a report from the NY Times on Feb. 5, the prison guard, Nancy Gonzalez, was arrested and charged with intentionally engaging in a sexual act with an inmate.
That prisoner is Ronell Wilson, who is a former gang member that was convicted of killing two undercover New York City police officers in 2003. Wilson is the first person in fifty years to be sentenced to the federal death penalty.
However, Wilson is currently awaiting a new sentence after his defense alleged mental deficiencies.
As reported by The New York Times, Nancy Gonzalez was arrested on Tuesday and is now being charged with sexual abuse of a person in custody. Gonzalez faces 15 years in prison if convicted.
The two maintained a relationship for over four months and, as a result of this, Gonzalez is 8 months pregnant with the cop killer's child.
During several recorded calls, Gonzalez gave the following statement about the affair:
"I took a chance because I was so vulnerable and wanted to be loved and now I am carrying his child,” Ms. Gonzalez said in one of the calls, to an inmate at another prison with whom she also shared a romance. “Why not give him a child as far as giving him some kind of hope.”
