After months of speculation following its "GameInformer" reveal late last year, the latest entry in Rockstar's flagship open-world crime game has a release date.
The notoriously seclusive developer announced Thursday morning "Grand Theft Auto V" will arrive in stores Sept. 17. Originally rumored to hit some time in the spring -- possibly in April, as with the last "GTA" title, or in May, as with the last several Rockstar games -- this "delay" came as a shock.
"We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time," a press release from the "GTA" team stated. "'GTAV' is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require."
The developer went on to apologize to fans for the delay, but promised it will meet, if not exceed expectations come September.
