“GTA V” is soon to be released and rumors are speculating that the game will have the longest gameplay time ever. The GTA franchise is renowned for having large open worlds and freedom of gameplay. The map for “GTA V” is going to be the biggest of any Rockstar game yet.
Game Informer’s “GTA V” preview gave readers some insight into just how large the world in “GTA V” is writing, "Just how big is this world? Art director Aaron Garbut crunched the math. When you include interior and exterior spaces together, Los Santos is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV combined, with room to spare."
The sheer size of the world is lending some hopeful validity to rumors about the game having the longest gameplay ever. The map focuses primarily on the city of Los Santos with surrounding farmland, mountains, beaches, sea floor, and a military base. With a world that big, there’s got to be a lot of gameplay to go with it, right?
Rockstar has also revealed that the soundtrack will last over 20 hours. An interview with Rolling Stone confirmed 240 songs included in the game. It also has been confirmed that over 20 hours of original score music (not including radio stations) has been composed for the game via an email from Rockstar to VG247. Rockstar has also revealed some of the radio station music for “GTA V” over on SoundCloud.
With so much music there must be a lot gameplay to go with it. The soundtrack includes music from Tangerine Dream, composer Woody Jackson (“Red Dead Redemption”, “Max Payne 3“, "LA Noire”), LA hip-hop producers Alchemist and Oh No. Most of the music could be intended for extensive free-play, world exploring and multi-player gaming but the presence of such a long soundtrack is a good sign that story-line gameplay will be lengthy as well.
“GTA V” will be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th. You can see the interview with Rolling Stone here. Check out the radio samples for the game on SoundCloud here.
