Rockstar Games is planning to reveal more details soon on the "GTA Online" character transfer feature that will be added to "GTA 5" on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. According to a report from Gameranx on Aug. 24, a fan asked Rockstar Games if he will be able to transfer the multiplayer data from the PS3 version to the Xbox One iteration. A representative from the company responded by confirming that players will be able to transfer their characters and progress, adding that more information is going to be posted on the subject in the near future.
The unique feature was first announced by Sony Computer Entertainment at E3 2014 as the console manufacturer confirmed that players can import their "GTA Online" character from the PS3 and Xbox 360 games to the PS4. Rockstar Games would later announced that the same element is going to be available on the PC and Xbox One versions as well. The company has not yet revealed how the feature will work, however.
The character data in the "GTA 5" multiplayer mode are stored on cloud servers, which should be able to make the transfer easier as opposed to using data that is saved locally. However, the Rockstar North development team had some initial problems with "GTA Online" as many players lost progress and data when the mode was first made available. Although the issues have now been resolved, some fans are still concern that something could happen during the transfer process.
Rockstar Games invested heavily in "GTA Online." So far, the company has released free DLC expansion packs, adding several new contents such as cars, weapons and clothing options. To monetize from the "GTA 5" multiplayer mode, the publisher provided players with an optional feature which converts real money into in-game currency.
