GTA Online patch kills money hoarding from replaying missions

Some Grand Theft Auto Online players discovered how to make money fast by constantly replaying a single mission in the online portion of GTA V for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The patch released by Rockstar Games on Friday put the end to all of that, however.

The "Violent Duct" mission in GTA Online was discovered to be a sure-fire way to make $9,000 in the span of just two minutes by players and quickly spread online through videos such as this one from Enraged Cinema. However, today's patch reportedly not only gimps the mission payout but also prevents players from immediately replaying it as well.

One Reddit user (confirmed by a second NeoGAF user) reports that the payout for "Violent Duct" has been dropped from $9,000 to $3,000 and the ability to immediately replay successful missions has been removed altogether. Instead, players will have to search for missions using the standard process of contacts available on the in-game cellphone.

Update: The mission is still earns $3,000 despite what some have reported. (We were finally able to verify that ourselves today). Additionally, the mission can still be replayed by doing the following.

When the mission is completed, vote to "Like" the mission by pressing the Triangle button on the PS3 or Y button on the Xbox 360 controller. Then you and your teammates need to press the R2 button on the PS3 or RT button on the Xbox 360. Once that is done, the mission should automatically restart.

Clearly, Rockstar Games did not intend for players to repeatedly play a single GTA Online mission and quickly earn hundreds of thousands of in-game dollars especially with the ability to buy in-game cash with real world money. However, this may just be a symptom of another problem with the game and that is the grind to earn money to buy in-game items like weapons, cars and apartments.
