To accompany this week’s launch of The Independence Day Special update, Rockstar Games is hosting an in-game event within Grand Theft Auto V that will last the remainder of this holiday weekend. The weekend event, which will provide players with a number of bonuses inside the title’s online multiplayer mode, was first announced on July 2 and is expected to run until the end of this Sunday.
The Independence Day event weekend for GTA Online will add a new mission playlist to the game which will give fans access to a new set of holiday-themed jobs to take on. Furthermore, to give gamers more incentive to try out the new missions, players will receive twice the normal amount of rewards from completing job from the event playlist. The bonus affects the amount of both cash and RP payouts.
The new event also pays homage to the American holiday by offering discounts on many of the title’s explosives. Fans can enjoy in-game sales applied to airstrikes and several forms of heavy ammunition including rounds for RPGs, grenade launchers, and miniguns. This will allow players to pick up pyrotechnic rounds for the newly added fireworks rocket launcher which provides gamers with the opportunity to create their own Independence Day firework displays.
To round out the event, all Pegasus vehicle deliveries will b free for the weekend which means that gamers will be able to have the new liberator monster truck sent to them as much as they want. Additionally, Rockstar Games is also having a snapmatic contest during the event in which fans will have the chance to win real-world prizes for their holiday-themed photos.
Grand Theft Auto V is out now on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The bonuses of the Independence Day weekend event will end on July 6, while the extra content added from this week’s update will remain available for purchase until the middle of the month.
