Rockstar Games has revealed some of their release plans in regards to the upcoming Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 video game, “GTA 5.” In an interview with VG247 on Sept. 5, GAME disclosed that the publisher is trying to make the latest “Grand Theft Auto” installment the “biggest gaming launch ever.”
The U.K retailer also mentioned that Rockstar Games will be restricting shops from distributing the video game until the day before the official release date. You can check out the full comments from the spokesperson of GAME below (courtesy of VG247):
GTA V is released on 17th September and Rockstar, who publish it, have worked very hard to make it the biggest gaming launch ever. They have requested that no UK retailer despatch GTA V before the 16th September and GAME, along with all reputable retailers, will respect this request.
The retailer restrictions may have also been implemented by Rockstar Games to prevent additional leaks and spoilers. Several unannounced details of “GTA 5” were discovered by Playstation 3 users who got a download the pre-loading data from the European Playstation Store. As a result, the game’s soundtrack and other details were leaked. The files were eventually taken down with both Rockstar Games and Sony Computer Entertainment issuing apologies to fans for spoilers.
The development of “GTA 5” has been completed at the Rockstar North studio. Based on the comments from GAME, the physical copies of the video game will be arriving several days in advance of the official release date.
