Strauss Zelnick has revealed his company's expectations on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of "GTA 5." According to a report by Video Gamer on Aug. 12, the chief executive officer at Take-Two Interactive first disclosed that the development team won't just simply port the open-world action-adventure game to the next-generation systems. Instead, the studio at Rockstar North is aiming to surpass the wildest expectations from fans.
A few of the changes were already showcased at E3 2014 with a trailer that first appeared at a major press conference held by Sony Computer Entertainment. The video showed that the PS4, Xbox One and PC ports are going to include better textures as well as a superior frame rate and 1080 native resolution. The footage also featured increased foliage and animal count in the environment as well as the larger amount of cars that appear in traffic.
"GTA 5" already broke sales records on just the PS3 and Xbox 360, selling more than 34 million units on the two current-generation consoles combined. However, Strauss Zelnick told MCV that he still believes that there is plenty of room to grow, stating that there are seven billion people across the globe that could be potential customers. He also called the franchise the "standard bearers" of the gaming industry, adding that customers are buying a new next-generation system in order to play the next "Grand Theft Auto" game.
The aforementioned Rockstar North is also updating "GTA 5" for the PS3 and Xbox 360 at the same time as porting the same game to other platforms. The development team is working to release "GTA Online" heists, which have already been pushed back several times. Furthermore, the studio is rumored to be creating new casino and zombie DLC packs.
Strauss Zelnick did not provide an update on the release date of "GTA 5" on PS4, Xbox One and PC. So far, Rockstar Games only confirmed that the ports should be launching sometime during the fall season in North America.
