The recent GTA 5 release date news had many gamers shocked that the new "Grand Theft Auto V" won't be arriving in the spring of 2013, like Rockstar Games had previously mentioned. Instead, it's been officially reported the game will release in September of this year. While some speculate this is due to the possibility the game will be on next generation consoles, it's because Rockstar wants the best possible game to be released.
A report on Feb. 6 from Joystiq.com indicates that Rockstar recently commented in the comments feed of their release date article. They responded to fan comments which suggested some sort of conspiracy theory was the reason the game wouldn't be released in the spring. Rockstar commented:
"To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they're all nonsense – literally the only reason we've delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be."
While that gives one reason for the game's delayed release, it doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility that GTA V will be available on a next generation game console. Those consoles, which continue to be gossiped over, include Microsoft's Xbox 720, and the Sony Playstation 4. Neither device has been given any official release date yet, but could have one later this year. As for "Grand Theft Auto 5," it will be available for the current consoles: Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on Sep. 17 on this year.
