Dan Houser has provided a statement explaining the delay of “Grand Theft Auto Online” for the recently-released video game, “GTA 5.” According to a report by VG247 on Sept. 28, the vice president of Rockstar Games revealed two reasons as to why the multiplayer mode did not launch alongside the main title.
Dan Houser disclosed that it would have been a “huge technical feat” trying to develop the single-player campaign and “Grand Theft Auto Online” at the same time. The Rockstar North studio were already having some issues with “GTA 5” as the open-world action-adventure video game have to be delayed from its original spring release date time frame.
The development team also wants players to acclimate to the open-world setting and new gameplay changes of the single-player campaign before jumping into the online multiplayer mode. [Y]ou can start multiplayer after two weeks and it will really give them a real focus on where to look at the thing. I think that separating it out will just help people look at it as different products in their own mind a bit more and really give it a good chance to try and play it and enjoy it.
“Grand Theft Auto Online” is included with every copy of “GTA 5.” However, players won’t be able to access the multiplayer mode until Oct. 1. No additional fees and other types of activations are needed in order to play with others.
