Rockstar Games, the publisher responsible for the recently released Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 video game, “GTA 5,” has clarified the unlock requirement for the upcoming “Grand Theft Auto Online.” In an exchange from Twitter on Sept. 26, a fan asked if the story from the single-player campaign needed to be completed in order to play the online multiplayer mode of the open-world action-adventure video game.
A spokesperson from the company responded by stating that the story mode does not need to be beaten in order to have access to “Grand Theft Auto Online.” You can check out a set of screenshots for the single-player campaign and online multiplayer modes of “GTA 5” in the slideshow near the top of this article and the official statement from the Rockstar Games spokesperson on Twitter below:
You do not need to complete the Story Mode to access GTA Online
Although “Grand Theft Auto Online” is included for free in every copy of “GTA 5,” players won’t be able to access the mode until Oct. 1. A small patch will be released to unlock the online multiplayer section, which enables numerous activities for up to 16 individuals, for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
The development team is going to heavily support “Grand Theft Auto Online” with frequent updates and content releases. They have already planned to aggressively tackle potential issues and provide some free downloadable content for the first few weeks of launch.
