The release date of "GTA 5" on PS4, Xbox One and PC is rumored to be delayed, possibly until next year. According to a report from VG247 on Aug. 27, press relation representatives and publishers were apparently talking about the upcoming ports of the latest "Grand Theft Auto" installment being delayed during the Gamescom convention. The new versions were announced at E3 2014.
Sony Computer Entertainment provided a first look at the new visual changes of "GTA 5" at a stage event during the Electronic Entertainment Expo. However, the same company did not talk about the PS4 version at all at Gamescom. A representative previously clarified that the omission was due to Sony Computer Entertainment not having anything new to add to the initial reveal.
However, "GTA 5" was apparently shown behind closed doors to retailers. Rockstar Games apparently did not let any journalists in for the private viewing. Since no one in the media has seen a demonstration yet, VG247 speculates that the development could be taking longer than expected. The website also believed that a majority of the blockbuster video game releases coming out later this year already have release dates with the exception of the ports for the fifth number "Grand Theft Auto" title.
A delay is not uncommon for Rockstar Games when it comes to "GTA 5." The original PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were slated to arrive in the spring season of last year before being pushed back until Sept. 17. Furthermore, the publisher originally listed "GTA Online" heists as part of the initial updates for the multiplayer mode. However, the feature got delayed until the spring season of this year before being postponed indefinitely.
The PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of "GTA 5" won't be simple ports either. The development team decided to increase the resolution, texture details, amount of animals and car count with the more powerful hardware specs.
