‘GTA 5,’ ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition,’ PS4, Xbox One and more NPD sales posted

The NPD posted the sales results from the first month of 2014. According to a report from Playstation Lifestyle on Feb. 14, the PS4 was the best-selling hardware last month by a wide margin. In fact, Sony’s new consoles sold almost twice as much as the second best-selling platform, the Xbox One. The PS4 also remained the “cumulative leader” in terms of sales for next-generation systems.

On the software front, “Call of Duty: Ghosts” stayed on top for the third month in a row. Furthermore, “Tomb Raider” got a surge due to the release of “Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition” on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Most of the titles were released on at least four platforms with the exception of “GTA 5” and “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.” You can find some screens of the two titles with the slideshow on the left side of the article and the best-selling list for the month of Jan. below:

“GTA 5” sold 32.5 million copies so far while “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition” managed to surpassed 11 million units world wide in both digital and physical formats.

According to the latest NPD data for the first month of 2014, the PS4 was able to expand on its lead over the Xbox One. Sony’s new console sold 4.2 million units worldwide as of Dec. 28, 2013. Microsoft’s next-generation system managed to sell 3 million as of the end of last year.
