While many of the recent updates for Grand Theft Auto V have only affected the games online multiplayer mode, those wanting more single player story content for Rockstar Games’ open-world crime title will have their day next year. After announcing upcoming content for GTA 5 on Dec 9, the developer teased fans with the news that they will be releasing the new story-based DLC in 2014.

Rockstar Games is calling the upcoming single player add-on a “substantial” release which will further explore the three playable protagonists from Grand Theft Auto V’s campaign story mode. This will finally give fans a reason to return to San Andreas if they don’t have an interest in GTA Online or for those who lost interest to the title’s multiplayer mode due to its well-known issues.

Grand Theft Auto V is out now on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Multiplayer fans are set to receive the creation tools for making their own missions in GTA Online at some point this week. More details about the upcoming single player DLC should be expected when the release of the add-on draws closer.

Also coming to GTA 5 in 2014 is the much anticipated addition of heist missions to GTA Online. These will allow players to cooperatively engage in large-scale heist robberies similar to the ones encountered during the game’s single player storyline.
