With Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V launching next month, the ESRB has now released their official summary for the mature content found inside the M rated game. As revealed by Kotaku on Tuesday, the in-depth ratings listing details several elements fans have come to expect from the open-world franchise that include violence, drug-use, and obscene humor.
In addition to the random acts of violence gamers can undertake within Grand Theft Auto titles, one scene from the ESRB description of GTA 5 mentions a prolonged torture even in which players are given interactive prompts to carry out the abuse in a violent interrogation.
The upcoming title also depicts the use of narcotics, such as cocaine, in addition to the ability for player characters to smoke marijuana themselves. The frequency at which this could be done wasn’t stated, but players will be able to drive while intoxicated from alcohol use. Drunk driving was also a feature found inside the franchise’s previous entry, Grand Theft Auto IV.
No part of the listing should come as a surprise to gamers familiar with the Grand Theft Auto series as depictions of this kind of in-game behavior is what players have come to except from the popular Rockstar Games series.
Fans will be able to control three interchangeable playable characters when the M rated Grand Theft Auto V launches on Sept 17 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
