Two black pit bulls were found in what is starting to be called a “dumping ground” for dogs used for the gruesome crime of dog fights.
According to Pittsburgh.cbslocal.com, a woman in Pittsburgh's Lincoln-Lemington section witnessed two men dump what she believed to be a body wrapped in a carpet into a dumpster on Apple Street.
Keith Epps, a neighbor, went to investigate and found the two starved dead dogs with injuries consistent with dog fighting.
The police report stated:
“The animals showed obvious signs of starvation. The animals also had signs of fighting to include old and new cuts and bruises on the head and neck.”
The dogs were small, under a year old, and were probably used as bait dogs to prepare trained dogs for a fight.
Over the past summer, four more dogs in similar conditions were allegedly found in this same dumpster.
Detectives investigating the case say they have many leads and suspects. The charges will be animal cruelty and felony dog fighting.
We will update when more information becomes available.
