Gruesome details have been released Tuesday about the death of 42-year-old Christina Anderson and her 8-year-old son Ethan. Christina’s ankles were bound by a plastic cable tie. Duct tape covered her neck and mouth, according to the autopsy report obtained by CNN.
In August, Christina and Ethan were brutally murdered by longtime family friend James Lee DiMaggio before he kidnapped 16-year-old Hannah Anderson and took police on a multi-state chase through California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, where an FBI agent shot and killed him.
The autopsy report of Christina also stated that she was bashed at least 12 times in the head, and her right arm and both legs were fractured. There was also a cut on her neck. Her body was found in the dethatched garage next to the family dog that had been shot and killed.
Ethan’s body was found burned beyond recognition inside of DiMaggio’s home, and the autopsy stated that he died from the fire. He also had skeletal fractures that could have been caused by the events that happened the day he died.
San Diego County deputies who searched DiMaggio’s home found a handwritten note, handcuff boxes, camping equipment, a DNA swab kit, two used condoms, and letters from Hannah to DiMaggio according to an affidavit.
Contents of the letters from Hannah to DiMaggio have not been made public.
Hannah, who seemed unscathed in her interview with NBC News, said, “In the beginning I was a victim, but now knowing everyone out there is helping me, I consider myself a survivor instead.”
She went on to say, “My mom raised me to be stong.”
