No one likes the thought of getting older. But followers of Christ have a promise of life beyond death.
Still it’s comforting to know that you can be spending your latter years surrounded by those who care for you and who share your deep faith.
It’s comforting for families as well, and in fact the 5th commandment is the only one with a promise.
Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your God gives you.
In 1945 the Baptist General Association of Virginia created a new ministry that included a home for seniors. This came from the vision of Pastor James Thomas Edwards who wanted to establish a home for adults that was rooted and grounded in the Christian faith. The first of four retirement centers opened three years later in Culpeper.
In the Richmond area, seniors who are looking for a retirement spot in the West End that offers a casual, yet comfortable lifestyle should take a good look at Lakewood Manor. One of the four homes owned and operated by Virginia Baptist Homes, seniors at Lakewood Manor can experience the best of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) without the worries and upkeep of their own home.
Lakewood Manor offers apartment, villa or cottage homes. Units include large windows, fully equipped kitchens and plenty of closet space. The thing is, there are many options to fit the needs of most seniors.
Many seniors rely on family and friends for their support system, but some find themselves either without that support system or find that their loved ones simply can’t provide the care and support they need. Through a Continuing Care Retirement Community such as Lakewood Manor, seniors can be confident that their physical, mental, social and spiritual needs will be met in a caring and faithful community. There are plenty of amenities available. Seniors can keep actively fit, volunteer and have plenty of time to socialize.
Lakewood Manor is a part of the Virginia Baptist Home Community. Other locations include The Chesapeake in Newport News, Culpeper Baptist in Culpeper and The Glebe in Daleville. Through their communities, Virginia Baptist Homes seeks to provide seniors with “Dignity in Living"™ through high standards, excellent work ethics and a commitment to provide exceptional care.
Virginia Baptist Homes helps seniors find comfort in the words of Isaiah.
Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; And I will bear you and I will deliver you.
