Now you would think a company called Growth Nation (www.growthnation.com) would know a thing about growth and a recent company blog item made that clear. Growth Nation’s Doug Bruhnke notes growth is dynamic, creates jobs, profit and excitement. The company is particularly interested in global/international and green/sustainability opportunities because there is some “easy” growth in those areas. Obviously not all growth opportunities are in this area, but business can be found there.
Bruhnke noted he started out as a chemical engineer at the University of Utah who cared very much about a cleaner environment. He worked for a chemical company to help clean up manufacturing plants with new technology. While working there, he took a marketing assignment overseas and that led to his career as an international marketer.
Bruhnke is more hopeful than he has ever been that with new technologies the world can be a better place environmentally. He admits he evolved from thinking of zero growth to realizing that businesses can grow and act and think green at the same time. “I believe that companies can and should grow and that within the ecosystem of the world we can make it happen, especially if innovators bring new sustainable ideas to the forefront and they are,” Bruhnke writes. “I am more optimistic than ever that society will continue to make global progress on creating better lifestyles despite setbacks, despite the U.S. House, despite anything negative around us because you can’t keep down the human spirit to innovate.”
