GroveFest This free, family-friendly event will take place on the grounds of the Hayes home (a 31 room mansion built between 1859 and 1863 as a summer home for the Hayes family) and estate named Spiegel Grove. The estate was named from the German word "spiegel" meaning 'mirror" because of the nature-made reflecting pools of water resembling mirrors that formed under the trees of the grove.

This year's GroveFest will feature lots of hands-in activities, displays and demonstrations that are inspired by nature and the outdoors to spotlight the grounds of Spiegel Grove. Among some of the free activities will be a fishing game, make-it-take-it events and crafts, guide-led tours of Spiegel Grove, wildlife art and gardening demonstrations.

There will be several opportunities for animal lovers to meet and greet some of nature's creatures. The staff from Back to the Wild will be on hand with wildlife creatures that have been rehabilitated at their Castalia, Ohio facility.

In addition, wagon ride tours around Spiegel Grove will be offered for $3 per person.

There will be plenty of food ( possibly grilled sweet corn or fresh slice of melon among the food items) and beverages available for purchase.

A $100 per person auction benefit called "Bid at the Grove" wraps up GroveFest ( to be held next to First Lady Lucy Hayes' rose garden from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.) with proceeds going to the Hayes Presidential Center and its community and educational programming.

You do not need to attend the benefit to enjoy all of GroveFest's other activities.

Hours for GroveFest are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (with later hours for the "Bid at the Grove" auction event). Admission is free for most activities (except for the wagon rides) and the benefit auction.
