In a recent hands on preview of Rockstar Games' upcoming blockbuster 'Grand Theft Auto V,' gaming website IGN has confirmed that players will be able to return to the familiar Grove Street from 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."
'Grand Theft Auto V' is set in the fictional state of Los Santos, meant to be a sort of parody of California. San Andreas is the game's version of Los Angeles. In 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,' main character C.J. lived on a run down cul-de-sac on the outskirts of the city. Players spent a large amount of time there, either saving their progress at C.J.'s house or retrieving a car that could be stored in the garage.
Even after a slew of gameplay trailers, it was unclear whether any returning characters or locations would make an appearing in 'Grand Theft Auto V.' With the revelation that there will be a mission that takes place on such familiar territory, other such opportunities open up. It will be interesting to see which characters will make the cut, assuming they survived the events of 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.'
Rockstar Games has previously said that 'Grand Theft Auto V' will be bigger than 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,''Grand Theft Auto IV' and 'Red Dead Redemption' combined. Each of those games is known for its massive scope, so if 'Grand Theft Auto V' delivers on that promise, there are sure to be plenty of other locations, both familiar and new, waiting for players to explore.
'Grand Theft Auto V' is set to hit store shelves on Sep 17 for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360. On Oct 1, the game's multiplayer component, titled 'Grand Theft Auto Online,' will be released as a digital download for free to anyone who owns 'Grand Theft Auto V.'
