The complete title of the program is Weird Animals: Where Jesus’ Love Is One-of-a-Kind. The publisher states that “God filled the world with a lot of crazy creatures...including you! When kids feel weird, different, or even lost in a crowd—nothing compares to the extraordinary love of Jesus.” This is a great theme; kids love animals so this program will appeal to both boys and girls.

All five Bible stories are from the New Testament. There is an emphasis with each story that Jesus loves us no matter what, a wonderful thing for kids to hear. The curriculum is for preschool through grade 6; a separate youth program is available. The starter kit lists for $169.99.

The theme song is catchy and really emphasizes that God loves all of us. The 10 songs include the hymn “All Creatures of Our God and King” as well as the familiar “Jesus Loves Me” plus four original songs and four contemporary favorites. There is a Leader’s Version 2-CD set and a student CD with all ten songs. You can listen to music samples at the Concordia Supply website.

There are separate preschool materials. Besides music, the kids rotate to storytelling, science, games, food, and KidVid cinema centers. The KidVid DVDs feature real kids who feel different. The Mission project suggested is Operation Kid2Kid which works to provide clean water for children in India.

Group offers almost anything you can think of for your VBS program including training DVDs, giveaways that interact with free apps, plenty of decorating resources, online tools to promote, register, and organize VBS, as well as an Adult Outreach Kit with videos that mirror VBS daily points and discussion questions for the family.
