Groundhog day, February 2, 2011, in Vermont started with steady falling snow and it has continued throughout the day. The forecast is calling for the snow to continue until 7 am, Thursday morning. The northern areas of Vermont and New York will receive snowfall totals ranging from 6 - 12 inches. Most of central and southern Vermont is expecting 12 - 18 inches of snow. There may be some sleet mixed in with the snow in the most southeastern regions of the state, as well.
Because of the heavy snowfalls, driving conditions are dangerous and roads are slippery, so drivers are cautioned to drive slowly and carefully if they must go out today.
