Groundhog Day in the Charlotte area will be focused on the actions of Queen Charlotte, the local groundhog who is the expert when it comes to answering the questions about when spring will begin.
Those waiting for Punxsutawney Phil to answer the question if there will be another six weeks of winter or will they enjoy spring a little early this waiting may not know about Queen Charlotte. It will be interesting to see if Punxsutawney Phil and Queen Charlotte agree.

Guests can meet Queen Charlotte and her Charlotte Nature Museum “court” of experts before the shadow check, which begins promptly at 1:30 p.m. Afterward, join us for a celebration of the Queen’s decree with special Creature Feature activities. Guests will get to predict their own weather forecast while making a hibernating groundhog craft that pops up out of the ground. Want to find out more about groundhog hibernation? Then be sure to check “The Shadow Knows” Puppet Show and groundhog-themed story time presented throughout the day.

The Groundhog Day event at The Charlotte Nature Museum is scheduled to begin at 1:30 on Sunday, February 2, 2014. The regular Sunday hours at the museum are from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m.
